The
Value of an EAP/MAP
We know that personal problems impact productivity
through absenteeism, accidents, employee job turnover and increased health care
costs. The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence indicates that
companies can save between $5 and $16 for each dollar invested in an EAP whose
objective is to assist workers with personal problems.
St. John's Mercy EAP/MAP leadership participated in a study from
1985 to 1988, in which an EAP/MAP cost-benefit analysis measured EAP's impact on
medical claims and absenteeism. The data showed a return on investment of 4-to-1
-- a landmark study in support of EAP/MAP's. (Employee Benefit News, August 1990)
